1. Pick a year and a subject
Start with your child’s school year. Maths covers number, measurement, shape, data and chance. English covers reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
A free 5 to 8 minute check to do together with your child. Pick a year and maths or English, and Ponder shows what is going well and what to practise next, linked to the Australian Curriculum. No account, no names, no scores.
You choose a year level, from Foundation to Year 10, and maths or English. Ponder asks 6 to 8 short questions from its own practice sets, written for the Australian Curriculum v9.0. Your child answers, with one hint at a time if they need it. At the end you see strengths and next steps in plain English, and you can ask for the full report by email.
Start with your child’s school year. Maths covers number, measurement, shape, data and chance. English covers reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Read each question aloud if that helps, and let your child do the answering. Hints come one at a time and never give the answer away.
Each skill is tied to its curriculum codes, with a plain-English line about what children learn by the end of the year and an idea for practising at home.
The check runs in this browser tab. Ponder doesn’t ask for your child’s name and doesn’t need an account. Answers stay in the tab and are gone when you close it. We count that a check was started and finished (the year level and subject, never the answers) to see whether the check is useful, and nothing at all if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. If you ask for the report, we send one email to the address you give and don’t keep the results. The details are in our privacy policy.
No. It is a short snapshot from a few questions, so it can’t measure everything your child knows. Children have good days and harder days, and their teacher knows them best. Use it to start a conversation and to choose what to practise next.
A handful of questions can’t sum up a child. Instead of a mark, Ponder shows each skill as going well, getting there or a good next step, with what children learn by the end of the year in plain English.
Nothing that identifies them. There is no account, and Ponder never asks for your child’s name. Answers stay in your browser tab. If you ask for the report, Ponder sends one email and doesn’t keep the results.
The Australian Curriculum version 9.0. Every question comes from a Ponder practice set tagged with its content-description codes. NSW and Victoria publish their own syllabuses built from the same content, so the skills line up, though schools teach topics in different orders.
About 5 to 8 minutes: 6 questions for Foundation to Year 2 and 8 from Year 3. Your child can take a hint or skip a question at any time, and you can stop whenever you like.
Yes, with one child at a time, for example in a parent meeting. Nothing is saved, so it doesn’t make class records. For whole classes, see what Ponder offers for educators.
Ponder is in preview. Explore the practice sets now with no account, and join the launch list to hear first when accounts open later this year.
